Paint is bought by the square foot of wall, sold by the room, and estimated on the back of a card. Estiquik's painting template prices each room separately — living and dining, kitchen, bedrooms each, bathrooms each, trim and doors and ceilings for the whole house, and the exterior — so a six-room quote is six short lists, not one long guess.
Every line below arrives with a starting price scaled to your province or state. Quantities are the template's defaults — you change them to the job. Prices are deliberately not shown here, because yours will differ from ours and the point is that they are editable.

Line items as shipped in Estiquik's Painting Project template on 7 September 2026. Contingency defaults to 10% on this template; markup and tax are yours. How the whole estimate is built.
The painting template ships with 29 line items across six rooms: living and dining, kitchen, bedrooms (each), bathrooms (each), trim, doors and ceilings for the whole house, and the exterior. Paint and primer by the gallon or by the square foot covered, prep and patching, masking and protection, and labour by the room, each with a quantity, a unit and a researched starting price.
Prices are scaled by a regional index for your province or state and every one is editable. Contingency defaults to 10%, lower than the renovation templates, because paint has fewer hidden conditions — until you find the wallpaper under the wallpaper.
Contingency is applied to cost first, then your markup, then the tax for your region — GST, HST or PST by province, state tax in the US. The markup calculator shows what any markup really keeps as margin, and contingency vs markup explains why they are separate lines.
Attach the PDF or a photo, set the scale, and the plan takeoff sends measured quantities to these lines with the prices left for you. For this job type, the measurements that matter:
trace the walls once, set the ceiling height, and the run becomes square feet — both sides for a partition you are painting both sides of.
the room area; the template's ceiling line is priced per square foot.
linear feet from the same wall trace, both sides of a partition.
counted from the schedule; deduct them from paint only if you want to be exact — most painters do not.
Or a signing link. The client signs from their phone; name, time and document fingerprint are recorded. Follow-ups go out automatically on Pro.
Scope, payment schedule with deposit, draws and holdback, change-order clause. E-signed and filed with the job.
The extra pot lights, the upgraded tile. Each one rolls into a revised contract value, so the final invoice is never a surprise.
Deposit, draws and completion from the schedule on the estimate, with a Pay by card button through your own Stripe and e-Transfers recorded.
No single number. The template prices each room at starting rates for your region; measure the walls, correct the rates to your own, and the total is yours. Painters who track estimate against actual for five jobs have a better rate than any published figure.
Yes. The exterior is its own room on the template with siding, trim, prep and lift or scaffold lines, so an interior-plus-exterior job is one estimate with two sections.
Yes. Change any line's unit to square feet and the quantity to the measured wall area, or keep the per-room lump sums — both are honest, and the estimate prints the way you set it.
No. Most painting estimates are measured on site with a laser; type the areas into the template. If the client has a plan, the takeoff traces the walls and does the height maths for you.
Starter and up, at $19.99 (CA$24.99). Plan takeoff is on Pro.
